Physiotherapists are most notably known for treating common musculoskeletal conditions such as sprains, strains, tendinitis, bursitis, back pain and joint pain.
The following conditions can also be treated with physiotherapy:
- Sports injuries (ie. fractures, muscle tears, etc.)
- Whiplash Associated Disorder
- Pelvic floor Weakness
- Fibromyalgia and chronic pain
What can I expect from a physiotherapy treatment?
Your treatment is tailored to your needs and goals. It will involve manual therapy (a variety of hands-on techniques that will improve muscle flexibility and joint mobility) and exercise prescription (to encourage long lasting effects and functional movement). In addition, your physiotherapist can also include modalities for pain management such as acupuncture, dry needling, cupping or electrotherapy.
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
No, you do not need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist (unless it is a requirement for your extended health benefits coverage). All you need is an open-mind and motivation to work on the healthiest version of yourself.
Is physiotherapy right for me?
Physiotherapy is perfect for any individual that wants to feel better and move better! Pain is not a prerequisite for health and wellness.
